PLACE: James’ room
SUBJECT: Hubcaps
I had picked these up at thrift store about 18 months ago with the intent of hanging them on James’ wall.
I finally crossed it off my to-do list today.
Better late than never I guess.
Or, I just need to get off my duff once in awhile.

HH brought home all of these pencils for the kids. He said he never wants to hear them utter the phrase “I can’t find a pencil!” during the upcoming school year. Want to bet they still do?

SUBJECT: Assorted Buttons
Last week, StellaDella was asked to bring “100 of something” for the 100th day of school. One stipulation was that the “something” had to fit in a brown lunch bag. Then SD had to write 3 clues about her “something” and the rest of the class had to guess what it was. We went with buttons. Somehow, I have a ton of them.

SUBJECT: Ajax Cleanser top
With the exception of cropping to a 5”x7” size and adding my watermark, this is a SOOC (straight out of the camera) shot. Is there any significance to this photo? No. I had just finished cleansing out my porcelain sink and needed a picture for today. The top of the cleanser canister seemed as good as any!

SUBJECT: Juniper berries
HH and I went to breakfast again while the children were at Sunday School. As we were leaving, I grabbed this shot of the berries on the red cedar juniper planted outside the restaurant. The rest of the day consisted of climbing into the attic to get the Christmas decorations down (because of the nagging urging of SD) and spending waaay too much time getting the tree up and the lights on it – this included a trip to K-mart to purchase two new sets of lights, because 5 of the sets I had wouldn’t work. I decided I didn’t want to spend my time going through 750 lights (5 sets x 150 bulbs) to determine which one was loose. Yes…I replaced the fuses first…stupid lights.
Wilbur: Templeton, if you weren't so dopey, you'd notice that Charlotte has made an egg sac.
[Templeton gazes toward the ceiling and sees Charlotte's egg sac]
Templeton: [hiccups] Hooray for Charlotte.
Wilbur: She's going to become a mother. For your information, there are 514 eggs in that peachy, little sac.

PLACE: Yard waste container
SUBJECT: Spider egg sacs
It actually became warm enough outside to get some yard work done this afternoon. The HandsomeHusband and I pruned our trees…we still have some larger branches to take off, but the chainsaw is at the shop getting sharpened, so they will have to wait until Wednesday when it is ready. I also cleared out the front flower beds of dead vegetation and leaves. When I grabbed one of our plastic trash cans we use as a yard waste container, I saw these spider egg sacs attached to the inside walls. From what I’ve read, each sac contains several hundred eggs, so there is probably a potential of around a thousand spiders in this photo. As long as they stay outside, I’m good with that.

Austin Powers: A what?
Goldmember: A shmoke und a pancake. You know, a flapjack und a shigarette? No? Shigar und a waffle? No? Pipe und a crepe? No? Bong und a blintz? No? Well, then there ish no pleashing you.

SUBJECT: Frozen peas
So I don’t have to rack my brain all the time for subject ideas, I downloaded the 53 Weekly Themes list from the Digital Photography School website. This week the theme is “Cold” - and what would be a better subject than a bowlful of frozen peas, complete with ice crystals, sitting and waiting to be microwaved for supper? Well, I’m sure there are colder things out there, but this is all I could come up with today.

SUBJECT: Soap bubble
While I was at Wal-mart last night, I bought StellaDella yet another 128 ounce container of bubbles – they spill so easy you know - along with a nifty battery powered bubble gun. She played with them this morning (that girl does love her some bubbles) and I attempted to get some photos, but I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome. So, this evening, after spraying ourselves liberally with bug repellant, she and I tried again. I’m sure our neighbors thought that I am completely looney, what with me directing SD on bubble making and then chasing them around the yard with my camera. Luckily, out of the gazillions of snaps I took, I was able to capture at least one bubble fairly decently.
Traffic Cop: What's the matter? Didn't you see that traffic light?
Frosty: What's a traffic light?
Traffic Cop: Up there on that lamppost.
Frosty: What's a lamppost?
Traffic Cop: Are you trying to get a ticket, wise guy?
Frosty: I'd love one. To the North Pole, please.

SUBJECT: Crocheted Snowman
I crocheted this snowman 2 (or was it 3?) years ago from a RoxyCraft pattern. My snowman does not look as nice as the original. Being that I was a self-taught crocheter, I’m lucky that he didn’t turn looking like a mutant. I like crocheting, but haven’t picked up a hook all year. I find it to be like cross-stitching, logical, orderly and soothing. Plus I find it fascinating…you start with a long piece of yarn, basically, tie knots with it on a metal hook and you end up with (in this case) a snowman! It’s magic.
On a related note, one of my New Year’s resolutions for 2009 was to learn to knit. I’m thinking that I am going to fail in fulfilling that resolution. Something to aspire to next year, I guess.
"Is it true that the only difference between a yard sale and a trash pickup is how close to the road the stuff is placed?"

PLACE: My basement
SUBJECT: Yard sale stickers
This is what I was doing today. Attempting to cull the crap treasures located in our basement. I am feeling suffocated by the amount of stuff that we have. I had a yard sale last July and suckered people into buying sold quite a bit. How is there STILL so much piled in the basement? Good gravy, I think that it must breed down there. That has to be the only explanation. Last year, I took a bunch of the remaining items to the Goodwill (thrift shop). The rest of the trash goodies I placed on the front strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street and posted a Craigslist notice for "free stuff" - it was all gone by Sunday evening. I plan to follow the same protocol for the yard sale next weekend. If it doesn't sell, it ain't coming back in to the house, it's going!

SUBJECT: Push Pops
Monkeyboy's Little League requires that team parents man the concession stands during the baseball games. Tonight was our team's turn to volunteer. I worked between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, so it was just for an hour. It brought back memories of my early foray into the work force - working at a Wendy's fast-food restaurant.

SUBJECT: Pyramid of barrels
Another T-ball game this afternoon. It was very warm (82 degrees)and windy. The wind was picking up the dirt from the infield and blowing and swirling it all over. The ballfield was definitely not a place you would want to be inserting any contacts today! It didn't bother the girls though. These barrels were on the other side of the fence that surrounded the diamond. I liked the rust and the colors covering the bottoms of them.
