“If there was a terrible storm outside, but somehow this dog lived through the storm, and he showed up at your door when the storm was finally over, I think a good name for him would be Carl.”
Jack Handy (American Writer and cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1991-2003. Famous for his Deep Thoughts comedy sketches.)

TIME:  2:35 PM
PLACE:  Work
SUBJECT:  The weather

We had a big storm blow in this afternoon.
The wind blew strongly, it rained heavily and in about 30 minutes it was over.
It’s supposed to rain all weekend.

The swallow was not happy that Mr. Hawk is hanging around.
It was flying around the larger bird, sometimes making contact.
The hawk didn’t move from its perch for quite some time.

According to the 1925 City Directory, this building (1522 West Main St.) housed a bakery owned by a Louis C Seifferth.
Back in the early 1970’s, a bakery still operated there.
(although I do not remember the name)
I remember going inside with my mom while she bought pizza crusts.

When I was younger, I thought that grasses were a lame thing to plant in a landscape.
Now, I think they are pretty cool.

While walking home from the last official Girl Scout meeting of the school year, Stella and I passed our neighbor’s automobile.
I think, but don’t quote me on this (unless I’m right), that it’s a 1958?
No matter what year it is, it’s a cool car.

Claudia and I went to the cemeteries and left flowers for my mom, grandmothers, a great-grandmother and an Aunt.

And Stella blew bubbles that sat on the porch rug and looked like peppermints.

TIME: 12:15 to 2:37 PM
PLACE:  Cherokee Street, St. Louis, MO
SUBJECT: What we did

Claudia wanted to “do something” today.
We briefly contemplated going to the Botanical Garden, but it began to rain fairly hard.
We decided to to to Antique Row on Cherokee Street.

One of the shops we visited was a used bookstore.

We stopped and had lunch at La Vallesana (The Taco Stand)

Our seats were outside, sheltered from the rain on the covered patio.
I thoroughly enjoyed my veggie burrito.

I thought this a very creative use of zip ties.
