TIME: 1:36 PM – 5 July 2006
PLACE: St. Louis Zoo, Children’s Zoo
SUBJECT: James, Stella & Claudia

12 years ago, we went to the zoo with Grandpa and all the cousins.

Soon after this was taken, the zoo had to close because of some electrical issues.

I don’t think it was our fault.

TIME: 8:38 PM
PLACE: St. Louis Zoo
SUBJECT: Trees

My dad’s former employer invited him and his family to their Christmas event which was held at the St. Louis Zoo.  DramaQueen, StellaDella, 2 of my nieces, my sister-in-law, my sister’s mother-in-law and I accompanied him.

After a delicious dinner at the McDonnell Center, we walked through the Wild Lights displays.

It was a mild evening and there were tons of people there – last year it was cold and much less crowded.

Even so, it was nice to see the lights…

Throwback Thursday (232/365)

20150820_IMG_1169
TIME: August 18, 2007 @ 12:42 PM
PLACE: St. Louis Zoo – Children’s Zoo
SUBJECT:  Grandpa and the Kids

We were invited to an appreciation day at the zoo.
Grandpa went with us.
We arrived about 8:00am and ate breakfast.
Then we had the run of the zoo for about an hour before the general public.
By the time we took this photo at the end of our visit, the temperature had become very hot and humid.
James looks like he had had enough and is ready to go home.

Anybody Got A Quarter I Can Borrow? (143/365)

“I like vending machines, because snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at the store, oftentimes I will drop it so that is achieves its maximum flavor potential.”

Mitch Hedberg (American Comedian, 1968-2005)

TIME:  11:13 AM
PLACE:  St. Louis Zoo
SUBJECT:  Peacock at vending machine

The 1st graders (along with the kindergarteners) had their field trip today and StellaDella insisted that I go with her.  I had her and two other girls in my group to chaperone.  I think this was the highlight of the day – we stopped to eat our lunches and the resident peacock sauntered by and started pecking at the vending machines.  It looked like he wanted Doritos, M&Ms and water to eat.  The kids thought it was the funniest thing they had ever seen.  More than likely, he saw his reflection in the front panel and was letting that other peacock know he didn’t appreciate him being there.  A storm with high winds rolled into the area right after we entered the Insectarium.  After it settled down to slightly less than a downpour, we sloshed our way back to the bus.  I do believe that I’ve had enough of wet, rainy field trips for now.
