Choices (244/366)

TIME: 6:26 pm
PLACE: Nail Salon
SUBJECT: Nail color samples

*~*~*

HH, StellaDella and I went and had a pedicure tonight.

I did not choose any of these colors - I opted for a dark wine color, I didn't note the name on the bottle.

SD went for a bright, almost neon green; similar to the color "Rhianna".

HH did not choose a color - I was hoping he would got for "Figi" or "Lucia" or even "Joan", but no, he wouldn't do it.

He's no fun at all.

BOOP!

A Shell of Its Former Self (242/366)

TIME: 3:11 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Cicada shell

*~*~*

I found 3 of these on the pine tree this afternoon.

Didn't surprise me.

They have been sooo loud these past few days.

Fun Fact - Abandoned cicada shells can be found as a "bug" in Animal Crossing "New Leaf".  It is the only bug that is considered "found" instead of caught. Also, it is the only bug in the game that is not an actual living organism.

I am thankful that they are not our size as well.

Pretty scary.

My co-worker clowns around on the job all the time.

He's never been very helpful, ever.

SUBJECT: Miss Scully

TIME: 8:45 pm
PLACE: Inside the house
SUBJECT: Mr. Mulder

Apparently it's National Dog Day.

So here are pictures of our doggos.

And I have to include one in memory of Miss Oreo - I miss this old girl so much!

Not a Real Gecko (238/366)

TIME: 7:17 pm
PLACE: Front Porch
SUBJECT: Gecko

*~*~*

I bought this gecko figure as a birthday party decoration for StellaDella back in 2013.

After the party, we hung it upon her bedroom wall.

When she moved into the bigger bedroom late last year, she decided she didn't want it anymore.

So I hung it on the wood cabinet on my front porch.

He's blowing a spiderweb bubble.

A Hint of Things to Come (237/366)

TIME: 7:20 pm
PLACE: Front yard
SUBJECT: Maple leaf

*~*~*

Um, yeah, I don't think I'm ready for this yet.

Or maybe I would be if it was NEXT year at this time.

Things will be better then, right?

Pink Foyd? (236/366)

TIME: 4:19 pm
PLACE: Kitchen
SUBJECT: HH

*~*~*

HH wanted me to take a picture of him today wearing the t-shirt Monkeyboy had given to him last Christmas.

I didn't realize his pose had creased the shirt.

"Pink Foyd" - I wonder what sort of music they play?

What Mulder Dreams Of (235/366)

TIME: 8:02 PM
PLACE: Couch
SUBJECT: Mulder

*~*~*

While I was watching a movie (Valley Girl), Mr. Mulder was on the end of the couch snoozing and occasionally waking up to see what was happening.

I think he was dreaming that StellaDella would bring home bagels like this from her shift at St Louis Bread Co. (aka Panera in the rest of the Country)

She did  - yay! - we have breakfast tomorrow!!!

Cat Fountain (234/366)

TIME: 5:39 pm
PLACE: Upstairs hallway
SUBJECT: Cat water fountain

*~*~*

I bought this fountain for the cats to drink from back in early March.

I use to have a gravity feed water dish, but Mr. Jack, who I love to death, but who also can be an asshole, would continually knock it over just to see the water flow all over the floor.

I got tired of mopping up lakes in the hallway and decided to go the fountain route.

I am happy to report, he has not knocked this over at all.

My only complaint now, is the dogs love to drink from it too and since it only holds about 1/2 gallon of water, I am constantly refilling it.

That's okay....my hall floor remains un-flooded.

Owl (233/366)

TIME: 8:22 pm
PLACE: Front Porch
SUBJECT: Owl lantern

*~*~*

I lit citronella candles, sat on the porch and drank a screwdriver (with peach vodka!) this evening.

The candle behind this owl flared as I took the photo and made an orange glow - no filter applied!

Garlic Lace (232/366)

TIME: 7:26 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Dried garlic husk

*~*~*

This was blowing around the backyard - I think it's a dried stem and bulb covering from some garlic that the husband grew this year.

Life Lessons Learned From My Dog (231/366)

TIME: 7:08 pm
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Scully

*~*~*

Sometimes you catch the ball....

Sometimes you don't....

And sometimes you end up with a completely different ball than what you started out with.

And you enjoyed every minute of it!

Hose (230/366)

TIME: 7:59 PM
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Hose & metal plates

*~*~*

When I took the dogs out for the last time today (hopefully!) the sun had just set....

Miss Scully did her stuff and went back in right away.

Mr. Mulder skulked around the yard for awhile and took his sweet old time.

Then it started to rain a bit...see the spots on the hose?

That got him back in the house!

Copper Swirls (229/366)

TIME: 6:54 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Copper whirligig

*~*~*

I cleaned up after supper and walked the dogs.

After I came home I realized I did not take a picture today.

I ran out into the yard to see what I could find; this disappointed the dogs who though they were going on another walk.

This is what I got - it was a Hobby Lobby purchase.  My yard is slowing turning into an old person's with yard ornaments all over.

Monarch Mating (228/366)

TIME: 3:07 pm
PLACE: Front yard
SUBJECT: Monarch butterflies

*~*~*

Birds do it, bees do it and so do Monarch butterflies.

In my front yard.

In the middle of the afternoon.

I guess I'm kind of jealous.

Peterbilt (227/366)

TIME: 2:30 pm
PLACE: Driveway
SUBJECT: Peterbilt cab

*~*~*

Every once in awhile, HH is going to drive a truck again - he brought the cab he is going to be driving home to clean and detail.

He will mainly collect brewers grain from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis and deliver it to various farms around Missouri and Illinois for their livestock feed.

He did this before as a weekend gig when I was staying home with the kids full time. We definitely needed the extra money then.

Now that he's retired?  It's not necessary.

He does enjoy driving. So it's kind of more of a fun thing for him.

The extra cash is good too. :)

Eviction Moratorium Not Applicable (226/366)

TIME: 6:48 pm
PLACE: Front Porch
SUBJECT: Unwelcome tenant

*~*~*

The CARES Act included a 120-day federal eviction moratorium - this was for renters in federal housing programs or who lived in a property that had a federally backed mortgage on it.  The ban expired on July 34th - landlords can now issue a 30 days' notice to tenants telling them to vacate the property.

Even if the ban was still in place, it doesn't apply to the birdhouse on our front porch; it is not in a federal housing program nor is it saddled with a federal mortgage.

We are going to serve this guy and his roommates with an extermination notice very shortly.

Fake Plants (225/366)

TIME: 7:25 pm
PLACE: Sake Sushi Bar
SUBJECT: Window decor

*~*~*

We had a ton of rain this morning - many streets were flooded throughout the area.

The sun did manage to make an appearance in the late afternoon.

HH and I went out to eat this evening.  These fake plants were on the windowsill at the sushi bar - the setting sun gave them a nice glow.

Mr. Patches (224/366)

TIME: 7:44 pm
PLACE: Side of house
SUBJECT: Foundation work

*~*~*

We've been talking for years how we need to scrape, repair and patch the foundation on the west side of the house.

Now that he's retired, the husband decided to get to work on that project.

It helped that he bought a new power sprayer which made the removal of the the loose concrete a bit easier.

Monday Memories (223/366)

TIME: 10 Aug 2008 - 8:17 pm
PLACE: Garage
SUBJECT: DramaQueen with stepping stone

*~*~*

I remember this day.

It was a Sunday.

I was getting a migraine during this process (not because of the kids, I had several migraines that summer).

This is the only clear photo I have from this day.  All the other photos are blurry, probably because I didn't have the flash on and it was getting dark.

Muscle Car (222/365)

TIME: 11:35 am
PLACE: 10th and W Main St
SUBJECT: Dodge Charger

*~*~*

This car has been sitting in the parking lot of a body shop on Main Street for quite some time.

I always thought the old car and the brick background would make a good picture.  So today after a run to ALDI, I stopped and took one.

I think this is a 1966 Dodge Charger....am I right?

Concrete Blocks (221/366)

TIME: 8:55 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Concrete blocks

If you don't have spare concrete blocks in your backyard, can you really call yourself a Sicilian?

The Weight of the World (220/366)

TIME: 8:57 pm
PLACE: Alley
SUBJECT: Sunflower

*~*~*

HH planted sunflowers behind the garage along the alley fence.

The security light we have in the alley illuminates them at night.

They have grown very tall with large blooms.  So large, the stalk cannot hold the weight of the top-heavy sunflower head.

Not Just A Pepper (219/366)

TIME: 6:44 pm
PLACE: Front Porch
SUBJECT: Green Pepper

*~*~*

A friend of my husband's gave us this pepper from his garden.

I think it looks like a reclining body.

Here's a visual to help you see it.....

I hope that doesn't give you nightmares. LOL

Little Tree (218/366)

TIME: 7:52 pm
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Maple

*~*~*

A tiny maple is growing in a bed of pine needles inside a burnt out tree stump.

The color of this little tree looks like fall...just the way the weather feels outside today.

Memorial Chimes (217/366)

TIME: 7:04 pm
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Wind Chimes

*~*~*

Oreo loved to lay under the pine tree and watch the world go by.

I bought these chimes as a memorial to her and hung them where it made her happy.

I still miss my girl so much.

Speak Softly & Carry A Big Pipe Wrench (216/366)

TIME: 7:57 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Husband & Wrench

*~*~*

He may be retired, but he still owns tools of the trade.

He's rather proud of this wrench...I asked him if it compensates for anything else in particular.

His answer, "Yes. Yes it does. Absolutely."

Pepper Flower (215/366)

TIME: 4:51 PM
PLACE: Kitchen
SUBJECT: Red Pepper

*~*~*

I made one of my favorite dishes for supper - marinated grilled flank steak with
sautéd tri-colored peppers and onions.  We also had a salad; a french baguette, which I sliced and toasted; and for dessert, a peach crisp à la mode.

To prepare the peppers for sautéing, I cut off the tops.  I thought the red one looked like a flower.

Rain Barrel (214/366)

TIME: 7:28 pm
PLACE: Side of house
SUBJECT: Rain Barrel

*~*~*

The look you give when you have a black eye and are being force fed rain all day long.
