SD & I found a 2nd "Volume" tag in an alley that is 1/2 block north of Main Street today.

We saw a Lego planter on Main Street too; I'm sure it has been there awhile, but I just noticed it today.

On this very rainy, very cold Saturday, SD and I did a bit of thrift shopping.

I needed a frame for a photo DQ had given me for Christmas and, more importantly, I needed to get out of the house for a bit.

We parked on the side of the building, but I didn't notice this graffiti tag until we returned to the car.

SD informed me that this particular tag is around St. Louis as well.  How does she know these things?

SD and I had cat feeding duties while DQ is out of town. On our way back home from feeding the rodents this afternoon, the clouds and remainder of the daylight combined to make a picture taking moment of the Cathedral.

St. Elizabeth's Hospital used to stand in that large grassy area in front of the church.  I guess if it was still there, I wouldn't have this photo.

Relieves Fatigue (347/366)

I've been wanting to take a picture of this for some time, however, everytime I drove by, there would be a car parked in front of it.

There was no car today!

I'm not sure what relieves fatigue, is sold everywhere and is only 5 cents. I could sure use some though.

I did do some quick research in the local historical newspaper archives (courtesy of our library) and found this advertisement for some gum that "relieves fatigue" and was only 5 cents for 5 sticks back in 1916.

Maybe this is it.

SD and I went to an open house in the west end of town today. (Much better photos of the rooms than I could take - also, I don't know how long the link will work, - it is an auction and ends on 12/9/2020).

It is very mid-century modern and I was very smitten.

 

Who cares that all the windows were single pane glass and it probably costs and arm and a leg to heat the place?

The important thing to note, in my brother's words, is that the house is "Un-Home Depoted" - Which is kind of rare to find these days.  

In any case, for various reasons I will not go into here, there is not a chance I can even think about purchasing this house. Which made me sad.

On the drive back home, I spied an estate sale sign.  We stopped and popped in to see what remained on the 1/2 off day.

I was able to snag this shelf for only $10.00

  

It made me feel a bit better.

The Belleville Mural Project is attempting to add more public art around our city.

This mural was just recently completed.  I was only able to take a quick snap of this one side on my recent drive-by. This mural actually wraps all around the building.  I like it.

I've always liked the "ICE COLD" lettering on this window.

The red background used to be a silhouette of a bottle.  When they installed the electronic sign, it cut off the top of the bottle. 

I still like it.

This car has been sitting in the parking lot of a body shop on Main Street for quite some time.

I always thought the old car and the brick background would make a good picture.  So today after a run to ALDI, I stopped and took one.

I think this is a 1966 Dodge Charger....am I right?

I was purchasing paint for the rental bathroom at our local hardware store when I noticed this thermostat next to the paint counter.

The hardware employee told me that it still works – they didn’t think it did, but finally figured out a switch was off in the basement.  They flipped it, adjusted the temp on the thermostat and the furnace fired right up.

StellaDella and I went for adventure tonight for dinner; somewhere we had never been, to eat food we have never tried – Peruvian food.

We had “Palta Rellena” as an appetizer, a Peruvian avocado which was stuffed with peas, carrots, chicken and mayo.

SD then had “Chaufa de Pollo” for her main course; stir fried rice with green onion, eggs and chicken.

I had “Lomo Saltado” which is “A traditional recipe of strips of tenderloin flamed with wine, sautéed with red onion, tomato, and a soy sauce reduction. Served with French fries and a side of white rice infused in garlic.”

It was really good – I’ve been here before for the bar, and purchased gasoline as well, but never for the food.  I plan to return!
