We saw a Lego planter on Main Street too; I'm sure it has been there awhile, but I just noticed it today.

SUBJECT: Mary planter
My sister stopped by on Saturday and dropped off a birthday gift…this planter to add to my Mary collection. She was out “picking” with her kiddos and happened upon it. It was a fresh find. How fresh was it? It was sitting on the counter after having just been unpacked. It hadn’t been priced nor cleaned up yet. She pounced on it for me. What a good sister I have.

Wonder how you manage to make ends meet
Who find the money when you pay the rent
Did you think that money was heaven sent”

SUBJECT: Hull Madonna #417 planter
To reward myself after folding and putting away 5 loads of laundry, and before I ran my Thursday errands, I decided to stop by one of my favorite thrifts, the Senior Citizens Thrift Store. I just love this thrift – this is the one where I found my orange chair. Today, I found this Hull planter and two pieces of Haeger pottery. I thought they would look good placed upon the shelves of the wooden hutch (the one I purchased last July) that sits on my front porch. I brought the pieces to the older gentleman at the front check out desk, along with a tin strawberry printed serving tray and 3 small wooden block houses. He glanced at my choices and quoted me a price – one dollar. Do you see why I just love the Senior Citizens Thrift Store?

SUBJECT: Concrete planter
This concrete planter is one of a pair that flanks the bottom of our front porch steps. In a few weeks, I shall fill it with annuals from our garden center. I’ve been filling it with blue and purple flowers for the past couple of years, but this year I am feeling the need for some bold and bright colors, like a mixture of oranges and shocking pinks. We’ll see what the garden center has to offer.
"Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
'Scuse me while I kiss the sky
Purple haze all around
Don't know if I'm comin' up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me
Help me help me
Oh no no... no
Yeah
Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
You've got me blowin, blowin my mind
Is it tomorrow or just the end of time?
No, help me aw yeah! oh no no oh help me..."

SUBJECT: Anniversary planter
I think HandsomeHusband gets a Clint Eastwood tick in his eye whenever he looks at this planter. In 2004, he asked my mother what would be a good gift for our anniversary. She told him that pottery is the traditional gift for the 9th anniversary. So he went out and purchased this planter for me. When he gave it to me, I got upset and started crying, not because he bought me a planter, but because I had thought we agreed not to spend any money on each other. I hadn't gotten him anything. I felt bad about that, plus I was nursing StellaDella and the postpartum hormones were raging. And to top it all off, my mom had just gotten the news that her cancer was not responding to treatment and had traveled to her spinal column. My emotions were not in a good spot at all. Naturally, HH took my upset reaction to the gift quite personally and thought I was being ungrateful. Who could blame him? But, I do love the planter (it's my favorite color!) and whenever I look at it, I think about how much he must love me to place that type of thought into purchasing it for me.
