Half-Assed Wish (105/365)

TIME: 4:50 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Dandelion

*~*~*

I was trying to take a photo of a fluffy dandelion gone to seed - as if I have never, nor has anyone else ever, taken a photo of one of those before (that's sarcasm son) - when Miss Scully rudely pushed in front of me and stepped on it.

Full wish gone, just like that. Poof!

I am left with making a half-assed wish.

That's okay, a half-assed wish is better than no wish, right?

Monday Memory (088/365)

TIME: 28 Mar 2016, 7:02 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Flowering Quince bloom

*~*~*

I didn't post during 2016 - why? I don't know.  Got burnt out I guess.

This is a photo I took on March 28, 2016.  We no longer have this shrub in our yard.  It was planted by the former owners in an awkward spot by the fence and driveway.  It was in the way when HH had to park his work truck in the back.  So he got rid of it.

It was a really pretty sight in the spring when it was in bloom.

At least I have photos.

Pawprints (040/365)

TIME: 8:24 pm
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Pawprints in the snow

*~*~*

It is cold out there.

I don't think it's supposed to get above freezing until Saturday the 20th.

We don't let the dogs stay out very long in these temperatures, but even so, they have managed to mark up the entire yard with pawprints.

Guess they are looking for another rabbit to catch.

If you don't have spare concrete blocks in your backyard, can you really call yourself a Sicilian?

Little Tree (218/366)

TIME: 7:52 pm
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Maple

*~*~*

A tiny maple is growing in a bed of pine needles inside a burnt out tree stump.

The color of this little tree looks like fall...just the way the weather feels outside today.

Oreo loved to lay under the pine tree and watch the world go by.

I bought these chimes as a memorial to her and hung them where it made her happy.

I still miss my girl so much.

A rare occurrence.

It lasted about 3 minutes.

TIME: 7:21 PM
PLACE: Back yard
SUBJECT: Leaf

I love the late evening light in the summer.

If only the wind would co-operate and stop blowing for just 30 seconds.

Most of the leaf is in focus at least – I’ll take what I can get.

Stella McBoing-Boing (203/365)

20150722_IMG_7183
This is the story of Gerald McCloy, and the strange thing that happened to that little boy. They say it all started when Gerald was two. That's the age kids start talking, least most of them do. Well, when he started talking, you know what he said? He didn't talk words, he went...
[boing, boing]
... instead.
Narrator, Gerald McBoing-Boing, Animation, Short, Comedy, 1950

TIME: 7:23 PM
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Stella on Trampoline

There's been a lot of bouncing going on these past couple of weeks.

Sliding Snow (048/365)

20150217 IMG_5233a
“You always say "I'll quit when I start to slide," and then one morning you wake up and realize you've done slid.”
Sugar Ray Robinson (American Boxer, 1920-1989)

TIME: 2:31 PM
PLACE: Backyard
SUBJECT: Slide

I had scheduled today as a vacation day in early January.
There was a brief moment of panic yesterday, when it almost looked like the kids would be off for a snow day as well.
I love my kids, but needed a day just for me.
Thank goodness they had school.
