It's time to freshen up the paint on the porch railings.

The hardware store where I had the original color specially mixed has been permanently closed for a few years.  We don't have/can't find any of the original paint in the basement either.

So I've picked ups some samples from Home Depot.  The top one is too bright, the middle one is too blue and the bottom one is too light.

Who knew finding the right shade of green I like would be so hard?  I know, I know, if this is the biggest problem I have right now, I'm doing good in life.

What I need to do is find the receipt from the original paint - I know I have it filed somewhere.  It has the color proportions written on it.  Someone else can mix it for me.

According to my DNA, I do not have any Irish ancestors to claim.

My husband, on the other hand, has approximately 3.7% British and Irish DNA.

So every once in awhile, I do have a little Irish in me. *rimshot*

Mr. Toad is finished!

He looks so much happier in this lovely shade of green with dark brown eyes and a thinner mouth.

His warts have been dry brushed with dark brown as well.

He will be going out in the flower beds shortly.

Snake Plant (339/366)

I needed a plant that can survive low levels of light, could be in a bathroom, where there is humidity, don't mind if you forget to water them once in awhile and was virtually indestructible.

Enter the Snake plant, or as I like to call him - "Pickles"

Hopefully he will survive being under my care.

My Triangles (321/366)

I was trying to capture a good perspective of the triangles I saw in the sidewalk, the dried leaves and the patch of grass.  

I took several photos from several different angles and just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted - this is the best shot of the lot.

To make up for it, here, for your entertainment (if you so wish to listen) is James Blunt singing "My Triangle" with Telly on Sesame Street.  

Spoiler alert, they worked the word "hypotenuse" into the song - Impressive!

Front Porch Revisited (299/366)

The husband power-sprayed the front porch on Friday, we picked out paint on Saturday and painted the deck and a bit of the rail. 

It turned into a 2-day affair because after we painted it, and to be fair, as we were painting it, I hated - hated! - the color we chose.  It was Behr MQ2-18 Honey Tea; It didn't look like the color chip.  It was just too bright and looked like we were trying too hard to make the floor "pop".

I did not want it to "pop", I wanted it to blend.  Soooo, I went and purchased a different color today - Behr Kaffee (MQ2-49) and painted again.  It looks light in this photo, but it is actually a bit darker.  

We couldn't remember the last time we painted the porch...Project365 to the rescue!

One of the benefits of having this blog since 2009 is that it archives projects we have done around the house.

I tried to take today's photo as close to the same angle and perspective as this one.

2009 had more sun, more shadows.

Funny how the deck color looks the same in both photos.

The city finally finished up our sidewalk project today.

New sod was placed along the edges of the walks.

I hope it takes.

I accompanied StellaDella on her trip to the reptile store to pick up crickets and mealworms for her geckos.

While there, we checked out the occupants in the aquariums and cages.

One of them was this guy...now, I am not a huge snake fan, but I gotta admit, they are fascinating creatures.

Take this Green Tree Python for example - it has such a beautiful color.  Also, the orderly arrangement of its scales is aesthetically pleasing to me as well.

Not a Real Gecko (238/366)

I bought this gecko figure as a birthday party decoration for StellaDella back in 2013.

After the party, we hung it upon her bedroom wall.  

When she moved into the bigger bedroom late last year, she decided she didn't want it anymore.

So I hung it on the wood cabinet on my front porch.

He's blowing a spiderweb bubble.

It was very warm this morning, I didn’t purchase anything, however, Stella found a cool puppet with a papier-mâché head.
