My Triangles (321/366)
SUBJECT: Triangles of leaves, sidewalk and grass
*~*~*
I was trying to capture a good perspective of the triangles I saw in the sidewalk, the dried leaves and the patch of grass.
I took several photos from several different angles and just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted - this is the best shot of the lot.
To make up for it, here, for your entertainment (if you so wish to listen) is James Blunt singing "My Triangle" with Telly on Sesame Street.

New Sod on the Block (283/366)
SUBJECT: Sidewalk & grass
*~*~*
The city finally finished up our sidewalk project today.
New sod was placed along the edges of the walks.

Where Have All the Trees Gone? (246/366)
SUBJECT: Metal tree surround
*~*~*
The city redid the sidewalks downtown several years ago, including some side streets.
The re-do included planting trees in metal surrounds like this one.
Many of the trees didn't make it.
I have no idea if they ever plan on replacing them in the future.

Wet Street Corner (251/366)
At any street corner the feeling of absurdity can strike any man in the face.”
Albert Camus (French Novelist, Essayist and Playwright, 1957 Nobel Prize for Literature, 1913-1960)
TIME: 6:27 PM
PLACE: Downtown
SUBJECT: Wet street
Between the torrential rain showers we had this afternoon, I went downtown to purchase movie tickets for SD and me to see “Paranorman”. I did not take an umbrella. Dumb move. Lucky for me, many of the storefronts have awnings. I took advantage of them when returning to my car.

Ant Hill World (097/365)
“We are anthill men upon an anthill world.”
Ray Bradbury (American science-fiction short stories and novels writer,1920)
TIME: 3:34 PM
PLACE: Front sidewalk
SUBJECT: Ant hill
StellaDella insisted I come outside and see the “Most amazing thing in the world!”…it was an anthill. Technically, she’s right. These teeny-tiny little ants build hills that are gigantic when you compare them to their body size – that *is* amazing. Do you see the yellow color in the upper left corner of the photo? That is from SD spreading dandelion petals around the anthills to feed the ants and to make it pretty.

I’m Doing It Mom! (118/365)
“If you wait until you are sure you will never take off the training wheels.”
Unknown
TIME: 6:47 PM
PLACE: Front yard
SUBJECT: StellaDella
HandsomeHusband took the training wheels off SD’s bicycle about 2 weeks ago. She was able to ride almost immediately, although she was a little shaky and needed help with the initial take-off. Tonight she was doing it all by herself. Back and forth, back and forth, up and down the sidewalk she rode. She wanted to ride in the street, but HH and I vetoed that idea. She began to whine about that but when given the choice of riding on the sidewalk without whining or whining and putting the bike away, she chose the sidewalk and no whining. Smart girl.

Who'll Stop the Rain? (146/365)
Western wind, when will thou blow
The small rain down can rain?
Christ, if my love were in my arms,
And I in my bed again.
Unknown. Western Wind (l. 1-4). . . Oxford Book of English Verse, The, 1250-1918. Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch, ed. (New ed., rev. and enl., 1939) Oxford University Press.
TIME: 12:41 PM
PLACE: The front sidewalk
SUBJECT: Rain splashing in puddle
It rained. It stopped. The sun came out. Storm clouds gathered. It poured down rain. It stopped. The sun came out. It grew overcast again. The rain poured down. It stopped. The sun came out. The sky clouded over. It rained. This process repeated all day long.
The good news is, our DSL service has been restored. Free from diaaaaal-up at last! Now I can start commenting again.
