SUBJECT: Shingles
*~*~*
We had a new roof installed today - well, partial, they are coming back tomorrow to finish.
Overall, it wasn't as expensive as we anticipated, but still...I hate spending that kind of money.

Supposedly this is just a tiny preview of what is to come on Tuesday evening.
I’m good if this is all there is.

SUBJECT: Gaps in the roof
Did I mention that we are redoing our roof?
The storm gods did.
They laughed at our apparently pathetic tarp-laying ability.
They put on a big drip-party very late last night – resulting in me getting about 3 hours of sleep before my 10 hour work day.
You never realize how many gaps are in your roof until the shingles are off.
*Sigh*
Sealing and repainting two bedroom ceilings have now been added to the never-ending household “to-do” list.

We woke up to just a slight bit of the white stuff sticking to outdoor objects this morning. It didn’t stay, thank goodness. I am sooo not looking forward to winter weather. Who wants to move to Rio with me?

Contrails disappear from the sky.”

SUBJECT: Contrails
A very lovely, breezy, warm fall day with bright blue skies. I was able to spend some time outside, enjoying the weather as I was spray painting StellaDella’s Halloween costume (it involves cardboard and lots of duct tape…there will definitely be a photo of it in an upcoming post). I’ve read that if jet contrails are longer and wider than normal, it will rain. Contrails are partly composed of water vapor, and the more moisture there is in the air, the longer and wider the contrails will be. We are supposed to have rain tomorrow, so it will interesting to see if this holds true.
“See, I am the whitest cloud that strays
Through a deep sky:
I am your senses' crossroads,
Where the four seasons lie.”

SUBJECT: The sky
Lots of sunshine, fluffy white clouds and a gorgeous blue sky today. I ran errands (bank and grocery store), did laundry and put away all the Halloween decorations. Still didn’t get everything done that I wanted to. I attribute that to the fact that I’ve been feeling achy all day. I hope I’m not coming down with anything - that would stink.

Mumbles a bone, and barks at a mouse.”

This morning, MB, SD and I helped in creating an outdoor classroom at their school. Then, after we had MB and SD hosed down, the family traveled down to Cahokia for the Jarrot Mansion Special Anniversary Open House. The mansion was originally built between 1807 and 1810 by Nicholas Jarrot, a native of France who made his fortune in land speculation (records show he owned as much as 25,000 acres in the area!). Jarrot’s home is one of the earliest examples of Federal style architecture in America. The property was placed on the national Register of Historic Places in 1974 and is in the process of being historically preserved.
“I watch the clouds as I see them
in pomp advancing, pursuing
the fallen sun.”

SUBJECT: The sky, a cloud & a roof
We were supposed to have strong thunderstorms today, but it appears they skipped over us. We did have some darker clouds roll in along with a temperature drop in the mid-afternoon. The sky was a pretty blue this evening and the setting sun lit up portions of the cloud formations.
