We just had MB's car detailed in anticipation of his homecoming in the next few weeks.

Of course, it rained this evening, but you can tell they did wax it.

More blue skies and sun today.  So of course I guilted myself into doing yard work.

I cleaned out the front flowerbeds.  Now that they are clear, I see that I need to paint the trim on the porch. 

I know I am going to be plenty sore tomorrow just from the flowerbed clearing, so I'm not feeling bad about not painting today.

In other news, I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.  It has up to 100x zoom (or "stalker mode" as I like to call it) 

I only went with the 30x for the moon this afternoon.

Looking forward to see what else this phone camera can do!

The reality of MB returning home is getting a bit closer.

We worked with him so he could purchase a vehicle and have it waiting for him when he comes back to the states. 

Late this afternoon, "by the power of attorney"  <--- be sure to read that in the He-Man cartoon 'By the power of Greyskull' voice - we registered it in his name and drove south of town to pick it up.

Our driveway is looking like a used car lot again and I'm not complaining.

Today is HH's 65th birthday

This is what we did...

We Zoomed with MonkeyBoy for an hour.  

Then we drove to the truck lot so he could prep the truck he was going to be driving for a load he had at 2:00am Sunday morning.  

Next, we go to 2 extremely crowded supermarkets to buy groceries in order to make his birthday dinner.

Said dinner consisted of steak, salad, baked potatoes and of course, I made his fruit tart for dessert.

DQ, her boyfriend and MB's girlfriend joined us for supper.  As soon as supper was over, HH went to bed as he had to get up at 12:45am.  I took a large slice of the fruit tart to my dad to keep myself in the will.

I took this today (October 1st), but I'm posting it as my September 30th picture (which is the date of this post).

I took a similar picture on September 30th (the date of this post), but I managed to delete my photos taken from September 30th to September 25th off my camera.

Don't ask me how - I've had issues lately.  

Luckily I've been downloading all my photos daily, so I still have copies of the 25th to the 29th on my computer.

Except I didn't download yesterday's - September 30th - which is today's backdated post. 

Does that make sense?

 

Peterbilt (227/366)

Every once in awhile, HH is going to drive a truck again - he brought the cab he is going to be driving home to clean and detail.

He will mainly collect brewers grain from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis and deliver it to various farms around Missouri and Illinois for their livestock feed.

He did this before as a weekend gig when I was staying home with the kids full time. We definitely needed the extra money then.

Now that he's retired?  It's not necessary.

He does enjoy driving. So it's kind of more of a fun thing for him.

The extra cash is good too. :)

My ear was killing me today; by dinner time, I couldn't chew without major pain.

HH drove me to urgent care, only to find out that they didn't take the new insurance my employer just switched to!

Grrrrrr - fine, the insurance can pay for an ER visit instead.

Luckily, there was only one other person there.

I was in and out in about an hour and 1/2 along with a prescription for amoxicillin and ear drops.

I bought a cheap plastic wading pool thinking the dogs would enjoy playing in the water.

I filled it up, the dogs ignored it and it sat in the yard – a mosquito breeding ground waiting to happen.

So I emptied the water and set it under the tree.

I guess Mulder got bored sitting outside today.
