SUBJECT: Desk
*~*~*
After 3 months, I finally moved my work from home desk from the open area downstairs to a small spare bedroom upstairs.
Now I can shut the door after work and not have to look at it!

SUBJECT: Jack, sleeping on my computer
This evening I was doing a little organization of my genealogy information. I have so many loose papers and things are not filed as they should be. It’s a huge elephant of a project and I have to eat it a little at a time, otherwise I get woozy and all discombobulated on the family lines. As I was documenting a few of my sources on my software program, Jack decided to jump up on my desk and join me. He was cold because he lay down underneath the desk lamp. He also used the edge of my keyboard as a pillow. No wonder I have cat hair coming out of my keys.

It’s Monday and I’m still loopy from this past weekend.
“And they were singing,
’bye-bye, Miss American Pie.’
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', ‘this'll be the day that I die.
this'll be the day that I die.’
They were singing,
’bye-bye, Miss American Pie.’
Drove my Chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', ‘this'll be the day that I die.’”

SUBJECT: Dell notebook & rosary
Monday morning I awoke to a blue screen and a whole bunch of words on my Dell notebook. I was on my way to take a shower so I didn’t even read what was there, I just pressed the button to do a hard reboot. It never regained consciousness. Later that morning, I took it to a computer repair shop for diagnosis. They called today. The motherboard had expired. That’s the bad news. The good news is, we use an on-line back up service (Carbonite) for our documents, pictures and music files, so those are not lost. And, my hard drive is still accessible - so I will be able to get to all my programs. The other good news is…Now I will get a new notebook! It’s definitely going to be another Dell. This one lasted over 5 years and until yesterday, didn’t give me an ounce of trouble. Rest in peace my electronic friend, you served me well.

Holy crow - 58,540 images on our PC! No wonder I’m having a difficult time trying to make a slideshow for the upcoming family reunion. I perused the folders a little more and found the following…
2005 images: 755
(began in August of 2005)
2006 images: 1,732
2007 images: 4,995
2008 images: 7,467
2009 images: 11,893
(this is year-to-date!!!)
Good gravy! That is a heck of a trend. I bet many of those images could be deleted. I’m am really bad about purging. I need to do it though. I’ll just add it to my ever expanding list of “things-that-need-to-be-done-so-if-I-die-in-a-fiery-bus-crash-my-family-won’t-have-to-go-through-all-my-crap-and-make-rude-comments-about-how-I-was-such-a-pack-rat-and-then-chuck-it-all-in-a-dumpster.” I’m not worried about losing any images if the PC takes a dive as we use Carbonite, and I have backed up the images to disks as well. But I do swear going forward that I shall edit and delete any bad/extraneous images as I download them. I pinky promise!
