SUBJECT: Tyrannosaurus Sue
Sue is the largest T-rex specimen ever discovered and the best preserved. She is 42 feet long and 12 foot high at the hips. Her skull is 5 feet in length. They estimate she weighed 7 tons (6.4 metric tons) when alive. Sue's fossilized bones weigh more than 3,000 pounds. Sue lived 67-65 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous Period. She was discovered in the Hell Creek Formation of Western S. Dakota on August 12, 1990.
This was a very hard place for me to take a decent picture. It was crowded, the lighting stank and people kept getting in the way - the nerve! Didn't they know I had to get a picture for my blog for today? Don't they know it's all about me, me, me. me, me? Sheesh, people, get a clue!
