Work Cupid (039/365)
TIME: 7:44 AM
PLACE: Work
SUBJECT: Solar powered dancer
My big February/Valentine decoration for work.
It makes a soothing “click-click-click” sound when the sun powers it – or it could be an annoying sound, depending on your point of view.

Cupid (033/365)

“Love goes by haps; Some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps”
William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing – Act 3, Scene 2
TIME: 10:55 pm
PLACE: Living room
SUBJECT: Cupid Planter
Valentine’s day has never been one of my favorite holidays.
So consequently, I don’t have a lot of Valentine decorations
However, I came across this gal at an estate sale last summer.
She is so sweet – I had to have her.

TIME: 8:21 PM

SUBJECT: Heart shaped lollipop given to me by StellaDella
I know my husband loves me because he cleaned all the snow off my car this morning before he left for work. He does that all the time, not just on Valentine’s Day, but because of the day it is, it just seemed extra sweet to me today. I’ve got to enjoy that, because SOMEONE ate all of the chocolate covered strawberries he gave me on Sunday. I’m looking at you oldest daughter. I am so not happy with you right now. I’m taking the Valentine candy I bought you back to the store. Wait a minute…actually, I’m just going to eat it myself. So there!

I’m With Cupid (044/366)
“I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.”

TIME: 2:57 PM
PLACE: Home
SUBJECT: Kewpie figurine
This is some of my other Valentine’s Day decorations…one of three ceramic Kewpie cupids that I purchased from Hallmark back in the mid 1990’s. I nestled him in a lovely thrifted candleholder made of plastic white flowers and plastic birds covered in red velvet and a sprinkling of gold glitter. Very 1970’s kitsch.

I finally took down the snowflakes, put up the paper hearts, and hung this lighted heart on the front window. That’s about the extent of my February decorating.

PLACE: Living room
SUBJECT: Paper hearts
I put these together on Thursday evening, so I would have some decorations up for StellaDella’s family party on Friday night. I had the paper and eyelets on hand, so it was a very inexpensive endeavor. We began our Valentine’s day with the annual cooking of the pink heart-shaped pancakes. (I was going to post a picture of them, but that would be two pancake pictures in a row and that would be against my arbitrary rules I have for this project.) The kids only had a half-day of school, but managed to have Valentine parties worked into the condensed day. HH gave me a box of chocolate covered strawberries and a card with kittens on it. He also made a tasty dinner <= always a good thing!

Serendipitous Heart (252/365)
Jonathan: This is the ultimate blend to drink. How'd you find this place?
Sara: I first came in because of the name: Serendipity. It's one of my favorite words.
Jonathan: It is? Why?
Sara: It's such a nice sounding word for what it means: a fortunate accident.
*Serendipity*. Perf. John Cusak and Kate Beckinsale. Dir. Peter Chelsom. 2001. Miramax Films.

SUBJECT: Honey crisp apple
Part of SD’s homework was to bring in an apple for class tomorrow, so I had to make a trek to the grocery store to purchase some. When did apples start becoming so expensive? They were priced anywhere from $1.99-$3.99 a pound, depending on the variety; or they had 3 pound bags of smaller sized apples for $2.99 ~ but SD informed me that she didn’t want a small one *rolls eyes*. I picked 3 medium sized apples and it ended up costing me $2.37 *sigh*. When I returned home, SD choose one to take to school, DQ ate another apple and I snagged the last one in order to take a picture. While taking the photo, I noticed my apple a heart outline on its side. I *heart* serendipitous discoveries like this.
