*~*~*

I started this blog way back in 2009 (holy crap!).  There were a few years when I didn't post everyday, or even at all (2019, I'm looking at you), but I've pretty much kept at it for 11, now going on 12 years.

It's interesting going back into my archived photo folders and seeing the pictures I decided against posting for the day.  They bring back good, bad and bittersweet memories.  A lot of yearning for days gone by creeps in.

Another feeling that returns?...The memory of agonizing over each post and image.

Not gonna lie, I think a LOT of my earlier stuff leaves much to be desired and, I will admit, was/is pretty pretentious.

The photo I did for this day, is okay. It goes along with the post.  But going back through the folder, I like this photo better.  SD's hair is so red here.  It is also un-brushed and tangly...it seemed like it always was.  It drove HH nuts - which was always fun to watch. LOL

SUBJECT:  TANK! TANK! TANK! Results

It was a work family event today – unlimited games, bowling and laser tag!  SD introduced me to “TANK! TANK! TANK!”  We teamed up to battle the Bee-bots and the Octo-roboty thingy.  I think I was a hindrance more than a help – but then, I’m an old woman, so I have a good excuse.

MonkeyBoy received an Xbox Kinect for Christmas, but hasn’t been able to use it as his bedroom (where the Xbox was) did not have enough space for it to work properly.  Late this afternoon, after hours of bugging asking me, we moved the whole configuration to the living room.  I got to spend a good 30 to 45 minutes figuring out how to get everything re-connected and in working order.  I must say, I done good – there was minimal cursing and it worked the 1st time we turned it on.  It might be better having it in the living room – since it’s connected to the family TV it will really limit the amount of time he gets to spend on it, plus parental supervision will be easier.  I don’t think he thought of that before asking to move the system.

He Goes To Eleven (162/365)

2010 06 11 IMG_7739w
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

Today is MB’s eleventh birthday.  We asked him what he wanted and he asked for the Xbox 360® Wireless N Networking Adapter.  So yesterday we ventured out to Target and purchased said adapter as well as a card with 1600 Xbox Live points.  Here he is with his headset playing a game and talking with his cousin Michael (via the headset) who also happens to have Xbox Live.  He is one happy eleven year old boy.

SUBJECT:  Rentals to be returned

We rented these games and movies last week and they were due tonight by midnight.  I ended up going out and returning them at 11:00pm so we wouldn't be charged a late fee.  Before I did that, I took a picture because I didn't have a photo for today.  Sorry for the borrrrring picture...I'll do better tomorrow!
