Boating Weather (154/365)

2009 06 03 IMG_5854
Wild Nights - Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile - the Winds -
To a Heart in port -
Done with the Compass -
Done with the Chart!

Rowing in Eden -
Ah, the Sea!
Might I but moor -
Tonight - With Thee!

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), U.S. poet. Wild Nights!—Wild Nights!, The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson. Thomas H. Johnson, ed. (1960) Little, Brown

TIME: 6:20 PM
PLACE:  Creve Coeur Lake
SUBJECT:  Moored dragon boat

Back in 2007, I participated in a Dragon Boat Race with my dad and his company.  Last year, we (HandsomeHusband, the kids and I) were on vacation in San Francisco and I could not share in the race day experience.  This year, Dad roped called me into service again.  Tonight was our team training exercise.  It lasted for about an hour.  I had forgotten how physically challenging it is to paddle in a 400 meter (1/4 mile) race.  I am quite certain that my arms, shoulders and whole body will be hurting tomorrow.  Hopefully, I will be recovered by race day on Saturday.

Susan - The intriguing thing was how twenty of us fit in that boat! LOL

Sara G - I was sore today! Definately exercising muscles I do not normally use!

Mari - It was nice on the lake. What amazed me was how warm the water was for this early in the summer...it felt like bathwater!

This is beautiful! Love the colors of the boat and the contrast of the boat against the sky.

I am playing catchup on my blogging friends.

bentonflocke - I'm hoping to get some good shots on Saturday!

Dot O - I haven't caught up commenting since the DSL crisis...I've decided just to go forward, otherwise I'll just get frustrated.
