I am very behind this year in planting containers with annuals to place around the front of the house.  I normally have several hanging baskets and pots decorating the front porch, but didn’t get around to it last month due to my mishap.  With the addition of the glider on Saturday, I decided that the empty planter on the chippy chair that sits next to it needed to be filled.  DQ went with me and wanted to design the container with pinks, oranges and yellows.  She picked out some “Profusion Orange” zinnias (planted on each side), the pink vinca in the back, and a “Pink Madness” petunia (not shown) in the front.  We couldn’t find a yellow that we liked, so we went with a white Euphorbia “Breathless Blush” instead.  I do like me that “Pacifica Punch” vinca she chose.  She did good.

SUBJECT: One-gallon container filled with homemade bubble mix

I’ve mentioned before that StellaDella is quite the bubble fiend.  Unfortunately, she is also a big bubble spiller – I had just bought a large container of bubbles the other day and they lasted about 15 minutes before they all hit the ground.  I found this idea here along with a homemade bubble recipe.  SD thinks it is the neatest thing to lift the faucet and let the homemade bubble mix pour into a cup.  She can also pour any unused liquid back into the container when she is done.  The bubble mix (I used the one that called for glycerin) is working quite well.  Now we’ll have to try making gigantic bubbles using a bubble maker made out of straws and string.

SUBJECT:  Elk soda crate

I picked this up at a yard sale back in September - I think I paid $2.00 for it.  I searched the internet, but couldn’t find much of anything on the Elk’s Beverage company.  I did find an Elk’s Beverage wooden soda case on eBay.  That listing states that the case up for auction is circa the 1920’s-1930’s.  Other than that, I have no information.  In any case (Ha! - “any case”/ “soda case” - I made a pun, how amusing), this crate is sitting on my file cabinet, holding my small collection of photography books.
