Samuel Taylor Coleridge (English lyrical Poet, Critic and Philosopher. 1772-1834)

TIME:  4:51 PM
PLACE:  Bunkum Road

After work, I drove directly to MonkeyBoy’s school soccer game.  We had pretty blue skies and puffy clouds.  And a winner when time ran out.

Night Steeple (061/366)

An instinctive taste teaches men to build their churches with spire steeples which point as with a silent finger to the sky and stars.

TIME:  8:26 PM
PLACE:  Freeburg, IL
SUBJECT:  St. Joseph’s Church

I think a tripod is essential for night photography.  Too bad I didn’t have one with me this evening.  I tried setting the camera on the car roof but unfortunately, it wasn’t at the proper height for the shot I wanted.  So I resorted to trying to hold it as steady as I could.  I even held my breath while pressing the shutter button.  The end picture turned out ok, but no where near as clear as I wanted.  Lots of room for improvement.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (English, poet,
Romantic, literary critic and philosopher, 1772–1834)

TIME:  4:16 PM
PLACE:  The Jeep
SUBJECT:  Temperature

We reached the magical 100 degree mark today with a real feel of 123 degrees – Ho-ly cannoli!  Yeah, it was just a little bit warm outside.

*disclaimer* – even though the car was in “Drive”, I was not driving at the time this photo was taken.

Foal (156/365)

2010 06 05 IMG_7461w
"Poor little Foal of an oppressed race!
I love the languid patience of thy face."

Coleridge, Samuel Taylor. *To a Young Ass, Its Mother Being Tethered Near It.” 1794.

TIME: 2:20 PM
PLACE: Just south of town
SUBJECT: Foal

I picked up DramaQueen from her overnight adventure and on the way home, spotted some horses in a field. Unfortunately, they were on the other side of the 2 lane highway and traffic was steady. I pulled way over on the shoulder and told DQ that I was getting out to take a photo. I would have crossed the lanes and obtained a better shot, but DQ was very nervous about me being so close to the highway and was afraid that I would get hit by a car, so I stayed by the Jeep and quickly took a couple of shots. This is as good as it gets today.

Pushing Up Peonies (066/365)

“And the Spring comes slowly up this way.”

TIME:  5:01 PM
PLACE: Front yard
SUBJECT:  Peony shoots

We had some lovely weather today, we made it to 60 degrees.  We did get a quick downpour mid-afternoon, but the rain, although heavy, was over after less than 5 minutes and the sun came out again.  When my dad came by on Friday, he had mentioned that he noticed the peonies were coming up.  After the rain stopped, I went out to look for them.  Yep, they were there.
