“Freedom's natal day is here.
Fire the guns and shout for freedom,
See the flag above unfurled!
Hail the stars and stripes forever,
Dearest flag in all the world.”
“Song of Freedom”, written by Florence A. Jones.
TIME: 6:42 PM
PLACE: Main Street, Downtown
SUBJECT: American Flags
MonkeyBoy’s Boy Scout Troop put up flags along 6 blocks of Main Street and around the public square this evening for the Fourth of July. HandsomeHusband usually accompanies him, but this evening, he stayed home and I went along for the event. The flag holders are on the light poles about 10 feet in the air. The troop has a specially made tool that helps them place the flags into the holders; they don’t need to drag ladders down the street and it makes the job go quickly. I thought it was pretty ingenious.
