Sticks, Sides & Wires (305/366)

TIME: 11:50 am
PLACE: Yard
SUBJECT: Scully and stick

*~*~*

Scully tried to help me out a bit as I moved a large branch that had fallen, from the front part into the fenced-in area of the yard.

She was determined to carry that branch for me.

It didn't happen.

TIME: 4:24 pm
PLACE: Local tavern
SUBJECT: Side of the building

We decided not to hand out candy at home this Halloween - we figured with all that is going on, we wouldn't get many trick-or-treaters.  As an alternative, HH and I sat in the parking lot of a local bar and participated in a "Trunk or Treat" from 3 pm to 6pm.

There was actually a large turnout. We went through 4 large bags of candy! (about 500 pieces total)  It was nice that the kids were able to collect a lot of treats despite the stupid COVID.

And, just because I liked the pattern made by these power line wires, I am including this photo today as well.

Consider it a bonus!

TIME: 6:38 PM
PLACE: Otts Tavern
SUBJECT: Beer tap handles

HH and I went out to Otts Tavern for a drink and some food.

I like the Stag beer tap handle.
I did not drink a Stag, instead I sipped on a screwdriver made with some Stumpy's peach vodka.
Pretty tasty.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn‘t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

Stella Artois & StellaDella (174/365)

TIME: 2:47 PM
PLACE:  Edison’s Entertainment Complex
SUBJECT:  Poster and SD

My company had its annual family event today at Edison’s today.  We ended up with over 4300 points from our expert game playing abilities.  SD is holding some of the prizes she choose by redeeming our points (we had enough for a basketball too).
She was as bubbly as the beer in the poster!

Friday Night at Fridays (011/366)

TIME:  10:55pm to 11:43pm
PLACE:  Fridays
SUBJECT:  The bunch, signs, and bottles

I went out and met up with the old group at a local tavern this evening.  Back in the day (1989 until about 1995), the four of us would all go out at least one of the weekend nights (if not both) and maybe even a Tuesday night at quarter beers.  We were much younger then.  And single.  And child-free.  Fridays was one of the bars we would patronize.

And just for the record?  I only had 3 of those beers and one Kamikaze shot (equal parts vodka, triple sec and sweet and sour mix)

Then I drank soda.

PLACE:  Downtown
SUBJECT:  Beer stand at the Chili Cook-Off

Our town has its Annual Chili Cook-Off this weekend.  Through my work, I volunteered to work the beer stand on the Square from 7:30 to 10:30.  I figured it would be a good spot to see everyone.  What everyone didn’t plan on was the rain and cold weather.  It was a bit cold, wet and very slow tonight.  It was still fun though – I’ll volunteer again next year.

Not Pronounced The Way You Think (069/366)

TIME:  8:52 PM
PLACE:  Refrigerator
SUBEJCT:  Hoegaarden Belgium beer

First off, yes - I did buy this beer solely because of the name.  And yes -   I giggle like a 12 year old at the grocery store, when I saw it.  It was a pretty good tasting beer though.  And for your information?  It is pronounced “hoo-gar-duhn”

“Stag – It’s Not For Beginners”

Stag beer slogan

TIME:  5:52 PM
PLACE:  Outside a bar
SUBJECT:  Stag beer sign

It was a trivia night that brought us to this place.  We (myself, HandsomeHusband, DramaQueen and my dad) did not do so well.  As a matter of face, we came in dead last.  In our defense, we only had the four of us sitting at an 8-person table.  I should have known that the evening wasn’t going to go well when, after purchasing some pain relievers at a convenience store, I get into the wrong car.  Oops.  Luckily the lady sitting in that car’s driver’s seat found my error amusing.  It also entertained my father and children who were watching me from the other vehicle.

PLACE:  Global Brew Tap House & Lounge
SUBJECT:  Seadog Blue Paw Wheat Ale

We actually had a thunderstorm and rain today.  It brought the temperature down, but it made it quite steamy and hazy out.  The HH and I met his brother and sister-in-law for dinner this evening.  Afterwards, we had a drink at the Global Brew Tap House.  I had the Seadog Blue Paw Wheat Ale (with blueberries at the bottom) which was quite tasty.  Thanks, to HH, who took the photo for me tonight.

How Lawyers Prop Open A Door (145/365)

TIME:  8:48 AM
PLACE:  Work
SUBJECT:  Improvised door stop
(Taken with my crappy cell phone camera because the batteries died in my PowerShot-Grrrrrrr)

When I entered the vestibule at work this morning, I saw this case of Budweiser Select holding open the door.  What you can’t see behind me are many, many more cases of beer (and a few cases of soda).  Why?  The office building annual bar-be-que is tomorrow.  Here’s hoping it won’t get rained out.  Speaking of rain – we were hit with more storms this afternoon.  DramaQueen surprised me by keeping me company on the front porch for awhile…until she saw this cloud formation:

Then she headed for the basement.  The clouds turned out to be more bark than bite – our area ended up with just some rain and a bit of wind.

SUBJECT:  Blue Moon Belgian White and a vintage drinking glass

I found this glass at the thrift store on Friday.  Priced at a mere 35 cents,  I thought it was both adorable and affordable – I am officially in love with the bird that decorates the sides of the glass.  I christened my new drinking vessel this Super Bowl Sunday with a Blue Moon Belgian White ale, and of course, an orange slice.  It worked perfectly.

Old Milwaukee (357/365)

“Beer built right.”

Old Milwaukee beer slogan

TIME:  4:20 PM
PLACE:  Beauty Shop
SUBJECT:  Old Milwaukee beer
(taken with my crappy cellphone camera)

I was my beautician’s last customer of the day and after she had put color in my hair and it was processing, she asked if I minded if she had a beer.  I told her that wasn’t a problem and then she asked if I wanted one too.  Well of course! - I never look a gift beer in the mouth.  She pulled two Old Milwaukees out of the compact refrigerator.  While Old Mil is not my beer of choice, I have to admit that my first sip of it tasted pretty darn good.  I don’t agree with the “America’s Best Tasting Beer” slogan on the top of the can, but in all honesty, it’s not the swill that some consumers claim it to be.  Hey, did you know that in 2004 it took home the gold in the Great American Beer Festival competition?  Take *that* you haters.
