“You know what burns me? Matches.”

SUBJECT:  Book of matches

I spent the majority of the day trying to clear my desk and de-clutter the desk drawers.  I have a corporate tax return to finish (the client has an extension) and I need a clear space in order to have a clear head to do it.  I found a container filled with books of matches.  I think I picked up the container at an estate sale earlier this year.  From the look of the ads on them, they appear to be from the mid-seventies.  I liked these red match-heads (most of the ones in the other books were white).  When I was younger, I remember you could collect books of matches from just about everywhere, especially restaurants.  I guess with the no-smoking laws we have now, they are harder to come by.  I can’t remember the last time I saw a bowl of them for the taking.

What a great idea - good shot!
Very cool shot!!
You are so right. You hardly see those bowls of matches at retail establishments any longer.
This is a wonderful shot, I love the clarity of it.
