Down The Rabbit Hole (211/365)

“The rabbit presses back her ears,
Turns back her liquid, anguished eyes
And crouches low; then with wild spring
Spurts from the terror of his oncoming;”

D.H. (David Herbert) Lawrence (1885-1930), British poet. Love on the Farm (l. 36-39). . . The Complete Poems [D. H. Lawrence]. Vivian de Sola Pinto and Warren Roberts, eds. (1993) Penguin Books

TIME:  6:58 PM
PLACE:  The backyard
SUBJECT:  Baby Bunnies

We have bunnies!  Monkeyboy took the dog out this morning and when they came back in he said that she almost caught a baby rabbit, but it got away.  I went out with him and he showed me where the rabbit disappeared in the grass.  I saw the nest, but no bunnies were inside.  After supper tonight, the kids and I trooped outside to check again (with my camera and sans dog) and there they were.  I think there are 4 or 5 babies in the nest which is inside our yard, but just outside our fence.  Now we will have to be extra vigilant whenever the dog goes out…I do not need the guilt of any bunny blood on my hands!

What was it that I just read about an hour or so ago where you (I think it was you) stated something was gobbling your plants? These bunnies are great at eating out of the garden too - even cute as they are.

Nice pic of a wild thing. Hard to get.

They are so cute, even though they do eat the flowers!
