Stitched in Time (224/365)

2009 08 12 IMG_8892
“Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern; it will come out a rose by and by.  Life is like that - one stitch at a time taken patiently and the pattern will come out all right like the embroidery.”

Oliver Wendell Holmes (
American Physician, Poet, Writer, Humorist and Professor at Harvard, 1809-1894)

TIME:  1:55 PM
PLACE:  Kitchen
SUBJECT:  Counted cross-stitch

Well, I finished!  It turned out a lot cuter than I expected it too.  Right now, I have it hanging in a 10” embroidery hoop on my kitchen wall.  The colors go great with my orange kitchen and I am digging the Scandinavian vibe.  Now, what should be my next crafty goodness?

Have browsed your site, but time does not allow me to leave a comment on each post that I have missed. Love your little cross stitch here. The birds are really cute and colorful. You must read an awful lot to be able to come up with the quotes you do. That is part of the charm of your blog. Hope you can keep that up - always. Just suffice it to say I liked everything I saw here this evening (oops! morning?) Hope to get back into the grove and get caught up.

Iona - I do like to read, but I confess, Google and quotation sites help me with the sayings...it can be a challenge to find the right one sometimes!

bentonflocke - I'm excited by how it turned out.

Sara G - At the risk of sounding conceited, I think it looks better than the photo in the book it came from!

Ah, I used to cross stitch a lot when I was younger. What a fun craft. I love your finished project - such bright colors! :)

You got that project completed very quickly! Love the colors and the little daisy-like flowers. :)

Oz Girl - My mom taught me to cross stitch when I was DQ's age...I tried teaching DQ, but she doesn't have the patience for it though!

Christina - There are some other flowers in the book, I just might have to do those as well!
